The test is simple: do you find out about a delay from the carrier, or from your client? A carrier who pushes milestone updates — slot booked, collected, en route, delivered, empty dehired — removes an entire category of chasing from your day.
A good carrier tells you the last workable day for a clean movement, not just whether they have a truck. That single piece of information lets you manage the client's expectations before storage and detention become a conversation about who pays.
