The port precinct: Lytton, Hemmant and Wynnum

Everything starts at Fisherman Islands. Lytton, Hemmant and Wynnum sit closest to the terminals and to most of the empty container parks, so round trips are short and slot timing dominates the cost rather than distance.

Sites here are usually purpose-built for containers, with hardstand and forklifts. The main constraint is congestion: a mid-morning slot on a busy vessel week can mean queueing that no carrier controls.

The southern industrial belt: Coopers Plains, Acacia Ridge and Rocklea

Our base is at 839 Beaudesert Road, Coopers Plains, so the southern corridor is home ground. Acacia Ridge and Rocklea carry a heavy share of Brisbane warehousing and intermodal freight, and the run from the port is straightforward via the Gateway and the Ipswich Motorway.

Access is generally good, but older Rocklea and Salisbury estates have tight entries and shared driveways. If your gate is narrow or the yard is shared, a sideloader that sets the container on the ground is often faster than trying to reverse a skel into a confined bay.

North side: Northgate, Pinkenba, Eagle Farm and Brendale

Eagle Farm and Pinkenba are effectively an extension of the port precinct and behave the same way. Northgate and Virginia are comfortable container territory. Brendale and Narangba are further out, so the trip cost rises, but they run well outside of peak because the Gateway carries most of the leg.

South-east corridor: Yatala, Stapylton and the Gold Coast

Yatala and Stapylton are a long but efficient run down the M1. Because the distance is real, this is where pairing loads matters — an import delivery paired with an empty return or an export pickup nearby keeps the per-box price sensible.

Gold Coast deliveries are viable and routine, but the empty return usually comes back to a Brisbane park, so factor the return leg into the quote rather than treating the delivery as the whole job.

West: Ipswich, Wacol, Carole Park and Toowoomba backloads

Wacol and Carole Park are well set up for containers and sit conveniently between Coopers Plains and Ipswich. Further west, Ipswich and the Darling Downs are regional work: they are best planned a day or two ahead so the trip can be paired with a return movement.

What your suburb changes on a quote

Three things: the distance from the port precinct, the distance from your delivery site to the nominated dehire park, and the site access at your end. Two of those are fixed by geography. The third is the one you can influence — clear access, a ready forklift and a booked unpack time save more money than haggling on the rate.
